• The Creature: A humorous horror story written in the late 1980s.
• Janosh the Fool: A fairy tale written October 20, 1997. It was read at Storyreading at my house that evening by Josh Guenter, who had been reading for some months from a classic book of fairy tales. It is intended to spoof many of the conventional elements which recur in those traditional stories.

Lance Sleuthe, a somewhat dimwitted detective in the mould of Sherlock Holmes, was created in the spring of 1985 as part of my (failed) application to write for the Harvard Lampoon. Additional stories have been produced at the stunning rate of one every five years. I don't really consider the first story ("Lance Sleuthe, Detective") to be part of the oeuvre, so I've freely recycled elements from it in writing the other stories.
